The ingredients needed to make Tricolour Idli:
  1. Make ready 1 cup semolina(suji)
  2. Make ready 1/4 cup curd
  3. Prepare 1 teaspoon oil
  4. Get 1/2 teaspoon mustard oil
  5. Make ready 4-6 curry leaves
  6. Make ready 1 finely chopped green chilly
  7. Get 1 teaspoon split black lentils (urad dal)
  8. Prepare 2 pinch orange colour
  9. Prepare 2 pinch green colour
  10. Take 1 teaspoon tomato sauce
  11. Get 1 teaspoon green chutney
  12. Make ready 1 pinch asafoetida
  13. Take 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  14. Prepare 1 teaspoon chopped coriander leaves
  15. Prepare to taste Salt
  16. Get 3/4 teaspoon fruit salt
Instructions to make Tricolour Idli:
  1. Slightly roast semolina in a pan and leave for 5 minutes for cool. - Add curd and salt and mix well and make the batter with 1 cup water.
  2. Batter consistency is medium. Keep aside for 10 minutes. - Heat the oil in a small non-stick pan, add mustard seeds, split black lentils, asafoetida, green chillies,
  3. Curry leaves, and ginger paste and saute on medium flame for one minute.Add this tempering in the prepare semolina batter and mix well.
  4. Now add chopped coriander leaves and mix well.Now divide this batter into three parts to make tri coloured idli.For orange batter add orange colour and tomato sauce in one part
  5. For green batter add green colour and green coriander chutney in the second part and leave as it is the third part. - Just before steaming, add fruit salt and mix gently.
  6. Just before steaming, add fruit salt and mix gently. - Pour 1 teaspoon of the batter into each greased idli mould and steamed in a steamer for 8 to 10 minutes. - Cool slightly and remove from mould and serve with sambhar and chutney.
